Dear colleagues,
We are a group of health care workers in the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (Vancouver) who signed the Health Workers Alliance for Palestine (HAP)’s open letter against the Israeli destruction of the health system in Gaza. We are organizing a rush hour vigil in support of the National Day of Action for Healthcare Workers in Solidarity with Palestine on November 30 2023.
Join us at 5:30 PM on Thursday, November 30th at 700 Hamilton St, CBC Vancouver to honour our health colleagues and those who have been killed in Palestine. We will be gathering at CBC to draw attention to the absence of coverage of the atrocities happening in Palestine.
Please wear scrubs, stethoscopes, white coats to identify yourself as a health worker, bring flowers and candles to honour our colleagues, and signs and banners in support of Palestinians and health workers in Gaza. We will be calling for our four collective demands:
Immediate permanent ceasefire
Stop targeting hospitals and health workers
End the siege on Gaza
End to occupation and the apartheid system
As well as the right to speak loudly and freely in support of Palestine and these demands.
The event is open to health care workers and students in healthcare fields, and community members in support of our demands.
