Report: Unveiling the Chilly Climate – The Suppression of Speech on Palestine in Canada
Independent Jewish Voices has gathered research about the repression faced by academics, students and Palestine solidarity activists, collecting approximately 80 testimonies describing the resulting “chilling effect” in Canada. This report is the first of its kind anywhere in the world, utilizing ethnographic methodology and qualitative analysis to describe both the overarching effects of this repression as well as the deeply personal impact it has on activists, artists, students and professors.

Support the HAP Statement on the “Discriminatory Health Coverage and Visa Process for Palestinian and Sudanese Individuals Arriving in Canada”
Please take a moment to consider signing on to HAP’s Statement on the “Discriminatory Health Coverage and Visa Process for Palestinian and Sudanese Individuals Arriving in Canada“.
This letter is addressed to Canadian government officials including the Prime Minister, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship and Ministers of Health. We call attention to the disparity between the Canada-Ukraine Authorized for Emergency Travel (CUAET) program and the inadequate pathways available to Palestinians from Gaza, as well as Sudanese people. There are six key demands outlined at the end of the letter that we believe will promote more equitable treatment and access.
We invite the following individuals and organizations across so-called Canada to sign the following statement:

– Individuals and organization in law and policy
– Individuals and organizations in immigrant and refugee work
– Individuals and organizations in academia
– Individuals and organizations in spiritual & faith leadership
– Community organizations (grassroots, advocacy, cultural, student groups, faith based, etc.)We hope you will consider signing this letter. We are at a critical moment urging us to act quickly to support people impacted by war and genocide.
As such, we have set a deadline of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 for the collection of signatures.
This letter will be sent to the addressed politicians named on the letter and may be posted publicly, published, or shared with media, with signatories listed.
We will NOT release your email address publicly.
